My work is based on my exploration of liquid and space; the significance of each term and the relationship between them.
As a mixed media artist I engage with the process of making, working predominantly in 3D. I create sculptures and installations, combining the traditional materials of ceramic and glass along with modern materials such as resin, acrylic and fibreglass.
My particular fascination surrounds the transformative properties of glass to liquefy during kiln firing. By exploiting these characteristics, I use heat, gravity and the viscosity of the hot glass to define space through the movement of liquid. On cooling, these kiln formed sculptures provide a tangible record of the event. I am constantly recording the process through digital images which often generate surprising results creating work in its own right.
Process and experimentation play a critical part in my practice as I continually try to combine incompatible materials and to push boundaries.

Profile
Innovative and resourceful artist able to respond imaginatively in a group and on an individual basis effecting a professional presentation of work. Excellent communicator with the ability to enthuse and inspire artistically through interaction within the community. I have been an active member of Artfusion North, a group of locally based artists, since its inception in 2006 with a role as Gallery Officer. Being part of Artfusion North is serving as a catalyst to inspire me to push personal boundaries within my own art practice whilst working cohesively within a strong group framework.
